Guest Presenter: Samantha Morales, the current Director of the Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) program for the State of New Mexico. As the SMP Director, Samantha leads a team of committed advocates working to assist Medicare beneficiaries, and their families to better understand their healthcare benefits, rights, and protections. Prior to her work managing the New Mexico SMP project at the Aging & Long-Term Services Department, Samantha oversaw consumer initiatives during her tenure at the Medicare Rights Center, a New York City-based national non-profit advocacy organization. As a committed advocate with years of experience working with underserved communities in multiple states, Samantha believes in equitable access to healthcare coverage. In her work, Samantha strives to ensure the public has access to accurate and unbiased information about the Medicare health insurance program. Samantha holds a Master of Arts degree in Politics from The New School University in New York

Description: This training will provide participants with an overview of the private plan Medicare Marketing Violation rules, and the role of the Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) program with reporting these types of violations. During the presentation we will also review the key parts of Medicare along with the important enrollment periods for making plan changes. Participants will also be able to apply concepts and test their knowledge with case studies.
