The Disability Coalition, along with several other disability organizations, is hosting community input sessions around New Mexico to hear from people with disabilities, family members, and others about disability issues in their areas. The next three forums will be held in Alamogordo on July 8, Las Vegas on July 29, and Albuquerque on August 12.
In addition to the Coalition, sponsoring organizations include The Arc of New Mexico, New Mexico Autism Society, Brain Injury Alliance, Developmental Disabilities Planning Council, Disability Rights New Mexico, Family Voices, EPICS (Education for Parents of Indian Children with Special Needs), Governor’s Commission on Disability, Parents Reaching Out, and New Mexico Ticket to Work Partners. Representatives of these organizations will be at the forums to explain the work their organizations do and the services they can offer. But we also want to hear from you! We want to know what’s going well and what’s going not so well for people with disabilities in your community, and what we can do to address problems you identify.
Each forum starts at 4:00 with time to meet and chat with representatives of the sponsoring organizations, and continues from 4:30 to 6:00 with time for each group to make a very brief presentation on who they are and what they do, followed by input from the community. Please join us for the forum in your area:
