Six-Week Course Begins July 16, 2013 in Albuquerque

The New Mexico Direct Caregivers Coalition and New Mexico Project for Financial Literacy will host a “Financial Education for Caregivers” course beginning Tuesday, July 16, 2013 from 5:30-7:30 pm at the America’s Best Value Inn in Albuquerque.

This six-week course (one night per week) is open to any and all caregivers who need additional help and support managing issues of a family member and/or a client.

Target audiences include seniors and family members of seniors and persons with disabilities Course topics include budgeting, record-keeping, investment withdrawal, tax planning, fraud and identity theft and estate planning.

The course results in preparation by each participant of a Power of Attorney. Each participant also earns a Certificate of Completion.

Ten credit hours of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available through the National Association of Social Workers for persons needing these credits.

For social workers, the cost of this course is $150. For all others, there is no cost for the course. Pre-registration is required of all and class size is limited to 20 participants.
